Influence of Dissolved Oxygen, Water Level and Temperature on Dissolved Organic Carbon in Coastal Groundwater

چکیده

The quality of groundwater has been severely impacted by urbanization around coasts. change in climate and land use patterns deteriorated the availability groundwater. One main issues contemporary research is dissolved organic carbon (DOC) water. influence DO, water level temperature on DOC was identified current study sampling 68 samples. analytical results revealed that ~18% total samples have > 5 mg/L. represented urban regions show high DOC. with higher correlated positively inorganic ions, such as Ca, K, NO3, Fe DO. Domestic wastewater, agricultural runoff local geology all an impact Groundwater chemistry shown to be controlled both aerobic anaerobic conditions based DOC’s interactions other ions. interrelates various sources, use, geology, temperature, infers levels are shallow groundwater, predominantly built-up region followed region. changes enhance due variation microbial activity. a lower shows maximum Apart from sediment matter microbes, also attributes pattern source

Temperature Dependence of Photodegradation of Dissolved Organic Matter to Dissolved Inorganic Carbon and Particulate Organic Carbon

Photochemical transformation of dissolved organic matter (DOM) has been studied for more than two decades. Usually, laboratory or "in-situ" experiments are used to determine photodegradation variables. A common problem with these experiments is that the photodegradation experiments are done at higher than ambient temperature. Five laboratory experiments were done to determine the effect of temp...

Groundwater-transported dissolved organic nitrogen exports from coastal watersheds

We analyzed groundwater-transported nitrogen (N) exports from 41 watershed segments that comprised 10 Cape Cod, Massachusetts watersheds to test the hypotheses that chemical form of N exports is related to land use and to length of flow paths through watersheds. In the absence of human habitation, these glacial outwash–plain watersheds exported largely dissolved organic N (DON) but at relativel...

Black Carbon in Estuarine and Coastal Ocean Dissolved Organic Matter

We measured black carbon (BC) in ultrafiltered, high–molecular weight dissolved organic matter (UDOM) in surface waters of Delaware Bay, Chesapeake Bay, and the adjacent Atlantic Ocean (U.S.A.) to investigate the importance of riverine and estuarine dissolved organic matter (DOM) as a source of BC to the ocean. BC was 5– 72% of UDOM-C (27 6 17%), which corresponds to 8.9 6 6.5% of dissolved org...

Dissolved organic carbon pools and export from the coastal ocean

The distribution of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentration across coastal waters was characterized based on the compilation of 3510 individual estimates of DOC in coastal waters worldwide. We estimated the DOC concentration in the coastal waters that directly exchange with open ocean waters in two different ways, as the DOC concentration at the edge of the shelf break and as the DOC conce...

Influence of light, temperature and salinity on dissolved organic carbon exudation rates in Zostera marina L.

BACKGROUND Marine angiosperms, seagrasses, are sentinel species of marine ecosystem health and function. Seagrass carbon budgets provide insight on the minimum requirements needed to maintain this valuable resource. Carbon budgets are a balance between C fixation, growth, storage and loss rates, most of which are well characterized. However, relatively few measurements of dissolved organic carb...
